In Your Own Words

How can a common language for describing sexualized violence be found? How can a dialogue be formed when one aspect of violence involves silencing?

The participative project In Your Own Words by the queer writing collective Q.U.I.C.H.E. searches for a new, common language for describing sexualized violence. During the run of the exhibition, postcards with questions will be distributed to encourage visitors to express themselves anonymously with a short sentence or a few words.

The sentences, words, and thoughts that are collected will be processed by Q.U.I.C.H.E. and published in a zine. Q.U.I.C.H.E. will present the zine in the museum on August 30 and invites visitors to participate in the dialogue.

Q.U.I.C.H.E. is supported by the Department of Culture.

Suzanne Lacy: By Your Own Hand

In her video installation «De tu puño y letra (By Your Own Hand)» (2014–2015/2019), Suzanne Lacy puts us in the middle of a bull fighting arena and confronts us with harrowing accounts of women’s experiences of violence. The Los Angeles-based artist has been a pioneer of social practice, feminism and performance art since the 1970s.
