The Witness Listening to Our Imperiled Planet
Conversation, Multimedia Installation and Performance by students of the Hochschule für Musik Basel FHNW and guests

In 1989, composer Pauline Oliveros developed three strategies for listening, attuning, and responding to the natural environment and to one another. As catastrophic drought, deforestation, and other consequences of climate change and human action radically reshape our world, these strategies remain a critical tool for attuning to vulnerable ecologies and their inhabitants. Meet six teams from East Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, North Africa, and Europe that used Oliveros’s strategies in their research on the impacts of paradigm shift on their communities. Experience sound, audio, and visual fragments and a rich and open conversation about what they have discovered and how it has shaped them as artists and humans.

Temitayo Ogunbiyi. You will follow the Rhein and compose play

Pour la première fois en Suisse, le Musée Tinguely présente un projet d’exposition en deux parties de Temitayo Ogunbiyi (*1984), artiste vivant à Lagos, au Nigéria. Depuis mai, le parc de la Solitude accueille une structure de jeu appartenant à sa série Playground. Il s’agit d’installations invitant des personnes de tous âges à se mettre en mouvement et à interagir socialement. Elles abordent des thèmes comme la mondialisation, les échanges culturels, les migrations ou le rapport à notre environnement naturel. La seconde partie de l’exposition propose un aperçu complet de la pratique artistique de Temitayo Ogunbiyi de manière ludique et présente des travaux réalisés à partir de 2016 ainsi que de nouveaux objets spécialement conçus pour l’occasion, parmi lesquels des instruments de musique et des œuvres inspirés par ses recherches sur place. L'exposition est créée en collaboration avec Culturescapes 2023 Sahara, qui se concentre sur l'espace saharien en tant que lieu où il est possible de reconnecter et de réimaginer l’Afrique.
