Leading authority on conservation and restoration of works by Jean Tinguely
Since 1996, Jean Tinguely's largest collection of kinetic works has been exhibited at the Museum Tinguely in Basel. It comprises 218 sculptures, more than half of which are on permanent display.
Maintaining its movement is one of the central concerns of the conservation department. It is guaranteed on the one hand by daily observation and supervision in the exhibition, and on the other by proactive planning and specific conservation strategies.
There is no generally applicable strategy for this; every work requires regular observation and careful documentation.
